Quick info

The process view cuts horizontally through the functional silos of the typical organization. It constitutes a paradigm shift in how organizations are viewed and managed. It provides the value basis for the methodology of process management that enhances customer orientation and continuous improvement. Process Management is a common denominator for management systems, such as ISO 9000, business excellence models such as the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) Excellence Model and methodologies for organizational performance improvement such as Six Sigma. Process Management can also be used to manage and improve sustainability based on the Triple Bottom Line (TBL). Reporting of organizational sustainability is often done using the TBL that divides results in economic, environmental and social performance. Process management is applicable in all organizations, producing goods or services, private or public and with different objectives such as cost saving, quality improvement, capacity increase and work for reduced environmental impacts. This course will introduce the values, methodologies and tools of process management and provide application of the theory using exercises, case studies and participation in ongoing improvement work.
