The course covers small scale renewable energy supply; Solar, Wind, Hydro, Wave. It also covers the aspects of storage of energy to construct an off grid supply system, i. e. independent systems. Environmental and social impact as well as financial implications will be explored.

Since 1998 Gotland University has arranged courses on wind power (within Energy Technology) on a part-time distance learning basis and the first English course took place in 2004. The main part of the courses is also offered in Swedish.
